Explore Mastichari - Kos Island, Greece

Named after the mastic trees that once thrived in the area, Mastichari is a little seaside village 22 kilometres away from the town of Kos and a mere 5 kilometres drive from the airport – making it the ideal base from which to explore the delights of the island. A fishing port since antiquity, this picturesque hamlet has nowadays evolved into a chilled holiday resort with a choice of restaurants and tavernas – all serving honest good food made with the freshest, locally sourced fish, meat and vegetables. There are also quite a few shops and some mini markets around that can cover your immediate needs; as well as a host of laid back cafes-bars – just perfect for watching the famous sunset. Mastichari also offers a frequent ferry service to neighbouring Kalymnos, as well as connections to Platy and Pserimos – mainly with private boats. Whether you just want to lay on the beach soaking up the sun and the cool vibes; explore the scenic countryside on a bike or go island hopping, Mastichari is your go-to place to relax, unwind and return back home with some fascinating stories to tell.
