The beach
A long, wide stretch of sand with shallow, calm water, perfect for families. Sunbeds and umbrellas are reasonably priced, with plenty of free sand too. Afternoon winds also make it a favourite with kitesurfers.

Mastichari, slowly.
A quiet fishing village on the north coast of Kos, just 5 km from the airport and 22 km from Kos Town.
A village that kept its size.
Mastichari is named after the mastic trees that once grew here. It has been a fishing port since antiquity, and it still feels like one: boats in the harbour, children playing in the street, cats on every step.
Today it is a relaxed holiday village with a long sandy beach, tavernas that cook with local fish, meat and vegetables, a few mini markets and cafés where people gather for the sunset. It is small enough to walk everywhere. From NM Apartments the beach is 400 metres and the village centre 250.

The harbour & the boats
From the small port, ferries run to Kalymnos, while private boats take you on day trips to Pserimos and Plati. Easy island hopping, just a short walk from your apartment.

Sunsets
Mastichari faces north-west, so the sun sets over the sea. Grab a drink at one of the beach bars around 8 pm in summer and see why guests keep coming back for the sunsets.

Eat & drink
Tavernas by the waterfront and in the village serve simple, good food at fair prices: grilled fish, mezedes and Greek salads. Ask us where to eat that week. We’ll tell you.

Tips from the hosts.

Rent a car for two days, not the whole week.
Mastichari is walkable. Keep the car for Paradise Beach, Kefalos and the mountain villages. Ask us and we will point you to a good local deal.

Go to Kalymnos on a weekday.
The morning boat gets you there for coffee in Pothia and back for dinner.

Check-in is 13:00 to 18:00. If your flight lands late, message us and we will arrange how you get in.
